Hybrid Heater Codes

Bradford White heat pump water heater

Bradford White AeroTherm Series G2 error codes

Covers: AeroTherm Series G2 hybrid electric heat pump water heater (models RE2HP5010, RE2HP6510, RE2HP8010)

Every code listed in Bradford White's own manual for this series, with what it means and what Bradford White says to do. Last checked 2026-10-03.

Is this your model? Bradford White's documentation page (forthepro.bradfordwhite.com, Residential > Heat Pump) lists I&O manual 238-55123-00 and Quick Service Guide 238-55219-00 under 'AeroTherm® Series G2'. The G2 spec sheet 1903 on the same page lists models RE2HP5010, RE2HP6510, RE2HP8010, with an 'ICON System® Exclusive LED Digital Display with Built-in Bradford White Wave® Connectivity' and integrated Wi-Fi. The I&O manual itself prints no model numbers. Its control has SELECT/BACK/MENU/arrow buttons with a Dashboard and Menu, a status bar with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi icons, and first-startup prompts for language, country, time zone and date. Fault codes are numeric (1-18, 92-99).

CodeLabelWhat the manual says it means
1Lower Temp Sensor - T1 faultT1 tank temperature sensor fault. Just before compressor starts, control checks T1 sensor is within 30°F - 170°F temperature range.
3Lower Element FaultLower heating element fault. Control energizes lower element, but current sensor detects no current flow.
4Upper Element FaultUpper heating element fault. Control energizes upper element, but current sensor detects no current flow.
5Control FaultThe control has detected a microcontroller or relay fault in the main control board.
6Supply Voltage FaultThe voltage is too low at power-up. The control monitors the input line voltage one minute after power-up, and if the voltage is below 155 VAC, the fault code will be displayed.
7Tank Over Temp FaultThe tank has overheated.
8Fan FaultThe fan is not functioning properly, or could have a locked rotor.
9Compressor FaultCompressor fault. Control energizes compressor, but current sensor detects no current flow.
10Superheat FaultThe control has detected an issue in the superheat stage of the refrigeration cycle, and the system may be too low in refrigerant.
11Airflow RestrictionFilter is too dirty to enable proper function of water heater. The evaporator is operating at a colder temperature than the ambient temperature as measured by T5.
12Evap Outlet Sensor - T3B FaultT3b sensor (evaporator outlet temperature) fault. The control detects the thermistor output is at or nearly shorted or open circuit.
13Evap Inlet Sensor - T3A FaultT3a sensor (evaporator inlet temperature) fault. The control detects the thermistor output is at or nearly shorted or open circuit.
14Compressor Outlet Sensor - T4 FaultT4 sensor (compressor outlet) fault. The control detects the thermistor output is at or nearly shorted or open circuit.
15Ambient Sensor - T5 FaultT5 sensor (ambient temperature) fault. The control detects the thermistor output is at or nearly shorted or open circuit.
16Ambient Temp Hi/LoThe ambient temperature is either too high or too cold to run the compressor.
17Compressor Hi Temp FaultThe temperature of the compressor is too high.
18Water Leak DetectedThe control has detected a water leak.
92Heating Relay FaultThe control has detected a fault in the heating relay.
93Element Hard FaultA heating element has hard faulted and operation cannot continue.
94Condensate FaultCondensate drain port blocked. Water heater will only operate in standard/electric mode until the drain port is cleared and the sensor is no longer in contact with water.
95EEV Hard FaultThe EEV has hard faulted and operation cannot continue.
96Superheat Hard FaultAn issue in the superheat stage of the refrigeration cycle has been detected and operation cannot continue.
97Compressor Hard FaultThe compressor has hard faulted and operation cannot continue.
98Fan Hard FaultThe fan is not functioning and operation cannot continue.
99Upper Temp Sensor - T2 faultT2 tank temperature sensor fault. Just before compressor starts, control checks T2 sensor is within 30°F - 170°F temperature range.
